Notes
The native lavender of Portuguese heaths and pine woods, recognised by the purple 'ears' on top of each flower spike. It likes poor, acid, sandy or schist soils and full sun, and dislikes lime and wet feet, unlike common lavender. Flowers from early spring, a key bee plant for rosemary-and-heather honey; a firm trim after flowering keeps it from going leggy.
